Brief Description:  Rudder Assembly

I started on my project about the first of February. I am doing this in a room in my basement. I figure I can build pretty much everything but the fuselage in this and another larger room. The fuselage would not be able to get out the door, but wings and the rest can be carried out individually. So, building the fuselage and assembly will require some different space yet to be discovered.

I am doing the component option from Zenith where you buy the component kits and build as you go.

Below are pics of the rudder assembly, I didn't get a pic of the skeleton, but here it is with skin and clecoed. Note the trailing edge cap detail in the first photo, I was not happy with how it was instructed to be tucked into the trailing fold of the skin and how it left a pocket at the corner. Image 2 shows how I resolved that problem. I cutaway a part of the cap skirt just past the last cleco so the end of the cap rests on top ot the rudder skin for about an inch or so, see pic 3. It took me two caps to get this the way I wanted. I messed up on the first one. This makes for a better fit and trim in my opinion.
