Brief Description:  Counterweight holes in aileron ribs

I started to drill the holes in the aileron ribs last night. I am using Eric Newton's manuals. He suggests to use a unibit to drill the 3/4 inch hole in the corner of these ribs.

When I used the step drill, I found that when i got to 3/4 inch, the last 2 steps of the bit were damaging the flanges. This meantI had to move the hole away from the corner. On discussing this with Eric, he said he had a similar issue, and had to shim the flanges on assembly because of the gap.

So I tried a hole saw, being of a uniform diameter through its length. This worked very well, and quicker than the step drill too,

I had to rebuild 2 more ribs to replace my earlier experiments. Easier said than done, considering we cut off the flanges from the original form block to beat the flanges over. I'd recommend keeping the original form blocks intact and creating another for actually forming in the vice.
