Brief Description:  Ailerons under way

Have made a really good start on the ailerons in the last 2 days. The first one is drilled and ready for priming.

I did make a discovery today though, that has set me back some. I neglected to put a proper 5/8" flange on the gussets in the flaps. Looking at the plans I realised my mistake. So today I drilled out one of the corner gussets from a flap to see how challenging it will be. Not too bad as it turns out, fortunately! So I cut all the new gussets today and will use the old ones to match drill for the already complete flaps. Then I will bend the required flange and reinstall.

I will wait for the long reach squeezer yoke to arrive though, so I can make a good job of the new rivets.

Another transgression has been getting the gussets switched around on the ailerons. Fortunately I discovered this before riveting! The inboard gussets were towards the wingtip and vice versa. No harm done and the new gussets are in place.
