Completed inspection of airframe. The tail section has some configuration differences as compared to the drawings. The stabilator trim system is not to plans and in fact may cause some control problems. This system will be removed and the standard tailwind elevator trim system will be installed. The vertical stiffeners for the vertical stabilizer are not to specifications so they will be removed and repaired per the drawings. The spar for the horizontal stabilizer is not to the size recommended in the drawings and is missing the 18” stiffener that is installed in the center section. The horizontal tail section will be rebuilt to specifications.
Airframe welds are adequate. Firewall will need to be replaced. Reinforcements will need to added to all weld joints on rudder pedals and control stick in cockpit.
The elevator horns are slightly misaligned causing tension on the elevators causing them to rotate off center. The elevators will be reconstructed.
