Brief Description:  Vertical Tail

Cleaned and prepped parts in bits and pieces over last couple days, the typical de-burriing, filing and corrosion protection. There is not much to this, everything has fit well. I'll admit that I was baffled by "rivnuts".They are basically small collapsable partially threaded barrels. They have a slight interference fit in this instance and are then squashed similar to a rivet into place. They allow you to inset a threaded barrel that allow the vertical tail access panel to be removable. Apparently, this goes easily with a specialized tool. Normally, this is just another excuse to get more tools, but this is something I would use infrequently after this project. And they cost money. you can do it one of the many hard ways. I used my hand rivet squeezers without the inserts and threaded a machine screw from behind the rivnut. Then just squeezed it into place. I also tried JB weld befor etrying the tool with less than satisfactory results. The squeezer works well but I hope I get better at it because there are probably 30 more of these in a bag.
