Brief Description:  Time Lapse Camera

I wanted to document the build in a different way. At least, in addition to normal photos taken as the build progresses, I wanted to try something in a little different. So this camera platform, to be mounted in an as yet to be determined spot in the garage/workshop, will "wake up" when there is movement in the shop space, take pics at automatic intervals (not sure yet how often) and then go back into sleep mode after not seeing movement for about 1/2 hour.

It uses a small Olympus digital camera with a cracked LCD video screen, but still takes normal auto flash pictures. It will take about 2500 photos before the memory card is full, so its more likely that the battery will run out. I couldnt figure a way, short of hacking the camera battery to a power supply, to not have to worry about the battery. The controller unit is an old "Handy Board" (more info here: http://www.handyboard.com/ ) microcontroller unit. It is programmed in a derivative of the "C" programming language called "Interactive C", and was pretty easy to figure out. I also used "C for Dummys" quite a bit to help. A small motion sensor, the funnel shaped thingie, and some cheap hobby servos typically used in RC aircraft is all that's needed. I bought some scraps from the Home Depot and made the carrier and mounted the camera such that it is in exactly the same spot after removing and remounting the camera after changing batteries or pulling pictures off.
