Brief Description:
Cleaning up pieces of carb
Ran the main bodies through the gunk tank today and cleaned up some of the parts to see what needs replacing.
The MA3PA I got was from an 65 HP Continental. Not sure if it's going
to be big enough for the Corvair.
So with the knowns these values were created by the following methods.
Calulated CFM at this URL: http://www.csgnetwork.com/cfmcalc.html
Using 164 CI and 3300 RPM
Required Carburetor Size In CFM
CFM Required (Rounded) 156.597 100% VE
CFM Required (Rounded) 129.976 83% VE
And this URL: http://www.csgnetwork.com/airflowcalc.html
So how much air will flow through a 31mm venturi and a 43mm throttle plate?
153.07932845086478 CFM
So the carb will flow more than the engine requires at 83% VE, I call
that a good fit at sea level.
The questions are:
will this be large enough at 14000 ft?
Are these calculations correct?
What might I be missing here?
43 mm throttle plate
31 mm venturi
