The dipstick is from a Toyota and has an O-ring seal a stainless steel blade (Thanks to Ron Milan for discovering this.
The tube is the original Corvair cut down even with the top plate. The dip stick is Toyota part 15301-50101 Gage Sub-Assy, Oil..
Used a tapered punch to enlarge the end of the tube so the O-Ring wouldn't have to work so hard going in. Cut the stick so it is about 1/8" above the bottom of the oil pan. Plan to mark it once it's on the landing gear, 4qt, 5qt, 6qt. Doubt I'll ever run more than 5qt but ya never know.
Also fabed up a bracket for the Starter. Again thanks and Kudos to Ron Milan for the ideas here. Flipped the gold piece over and use a piece of 2" x 1/4" 6061-T6. 3/8" thick would have worked better but I can weld that area thicker. Still have a little more work to do there but It's close.
