Brief Description:  Fly cut holes in Wing Nose Ribs

I used a bridgeport milling machine to fly cut the large 95mm holes in the ribs. It allows much better control of the speed and feed of the cutter and holding down the part is very secure.

Started by cutting a 3/4" plywood base board and drilling a 3/16 hold through it. Lined it up to the cutter and setup the clamps. The peices of aluminum under the clamps are the scrap from the qualifying block I made for the nose ribs.

90 rpm and bring quill down to the preset stop and lock.

Feed is done by raising the table slowly and letting the cutter work. I set zero on the table when the disk broke free so I would know where to stop on the remaining ones. A little cutting oil helps keep the squealing down.
