Brief Description: Riveting the Horizontal Stabilizer
Tonight I began flush riveting the left side HS-801PP skin. It went ok but I ended up having to drill out two rivets. Both of them were a little challenging but with the rivet removal tool I managed to get them out without damaging the holes. I need to concentrate on not pushing on the bucking bar. That is what happened with both of the rivets I had to drill out.
I was able to rivet the HS-707 to the HS-801PP skin. I also clecoed the forward spar assembly to HS-706, -707 and -801PP. I clecoed on HS-708 and then tried to blind rivet HS-702, -707 and -708 together. I had a really hard time getting the pop riveter in to the tight space. I eventually got it in and the rivet flush and did one pop rivet. Then the mandrel stuck in the pop riveter and I spent quite a while trying to free it. Frustrating!
