Today I worked on the aileron hinge assemblies and the aileron and flap gap fairings. First I cleaned up all the edges on the aileron hinge assemblies. Then I clecoed them all together and match drilled the holes. Finally, I machine countersunk the holes that required flush rivets. I disassembled all of them in preparation for priming.
Then I moved on to the gap fairings. I cleaned up the edges of the fairings using the scotch brite wheels on my bench grinder. Then I clecoed the fairings to the rear spar. When I did this I realized that I needed to trim the flap gap fairing so that it wouldn't interfere with the doubler on the rear spar. I did that using the band saw and then cleaned up that edge and clecoed the fairing back on. Then I match drilled all the holes.
I took the fairings back off the spar and deburred all the holes and then dimpled the skins and the fairings.
I also match drilled the reinforcement plates for SB 16-03-28 in preparation for accomplishing that SB during assembly.
