I riveted together the right leading edge today, just like the left one. This one went together just as smoothly. I then clecoed it to the main wing spar.
After my debacle using the double offset rivet set on the main ribs to the main wing spar I looked on Vansairforce.net to see if there were any better ways to attach the leading edges to the spar other than what is called out for in the plans. I found that several people had used LP4-3 and LP4-4 pull rivets to attach the leading edge ribs to the spar. I emailed Vans to make sure this was ok and they responded that it was.
After cleoing the leading edges to the main wing spars I used a close quarters pop rivet gun to pull LP4-3 and LP4-4 rivets to attach the ribs to the main wing spar. The close quarters gun I bought still didn't have enough clearance so I ended up grinding my Harbor Freight pop rivet gun down some more and then that worked great. The LP4-3 and LP4-4 rivets went in smoothly and the leading edges are now attached to the spar.
