Brief Description:  Leak Testing the Tanks

Today I finally got around to leak testing the tanks. I had a really hard time getting either a balloon or a glove to seal without leaking but I finally got a glove to seal well enough. I used a bicycle pump and the kit from Van's to put pressure on the tank. I then used kids bubbles in a spray bottle and sprayed all the seams and all the rivets on each tank. I started with the left tank. It checked out great. No leaks! I then moved on to the right tank and did the same thing. I found one small leak at the outboard end of the tank on one of the skin to baffle seams. I ordered some Permatex 290 wicking sealant and I'm hoping that takes care of the leak. If it doesn't my plan B is to run a small bead of tank sealant along the seam and see if I can seal it that way. Plan C will be to cut in to the tank.
