Brief Description:  Sealing the Tanks

The first thing I did today was rivet on the reinforcing ring to the left tank baffle for the fuel sender gauge in the 2nd bay. I had to do this because I'm putting a flop tube in the left tank. I dimpled the baffle and countersunk the ring to accept the dimples. Then riveted it on.

I then spent a while tweaking the bends and calibrating the floats on the fuel senders in both tanks. I'm happy with the way they came out.

The rest of the day was spent sealing the right tank. The first thing I did was seal and torque the fittings for the vent tube. Then I moved on to sealing the baffle. I mixed up a bunch of sealant and filled two syringes. I put a bead of sealant down both sides of the tank right below the baffle rivet holes. I also smeared sealant over the rivet holes on each rib and ran a bead of sealant down each end rib. I dropped the baffle down and clecoed it 100%.

I moved on to riveting the pop rivets in to the ribs and then pop riveted the middle Z brackets on. I moved on to the end Z brackets and used the rivet gun to rivet those on, followed by the rivets on the back of the end ribs.
