Brief Description: Riveting Wing Skeleton/Fitting Main Skins
Today I finished riveting both wing skeletons. Using the straight rivet set makes things so much easier! I finished the last two ribs on the right wing and then riveted all of the ribs on the left wing. Almost all were perfect rivets. I didn't have to drill out any of them.
After I finished riveting the skeleton together I put the wings on the wing stand and strung fishing line along the rivet holes on the main spar. I used my jack screw devices to raise the center of the skeleton so it wasn't sagging. I also had to notch my support bar on the outboard side to accomodate the skins.
Finally, I clecoed the top main skins on to the skeleton. I may have to get some more clecos if I'm going to cleco the bottom skins on as well to drill all the skins at once. Either that or I may be able to at least get them on temporarily and rob clecos from the top skins as I get them drilled. We'll see tomorrow.
