Brief Description:  Gap Doors

Now that the cabin top is final mounted I began gapping the doors. I'm following the path others have broken. Using a 90 degree marking tool, I located a reference line .5 inches back from the inside edge of the cabin top door opening. I then mounted the door and transferred that line plus 1/8" to establish the door perimeter cut line. It's really more of a sand line, which was my next task using primarily a belt sander. After cleaning up the new door edges, I test mounted the right door with the McMaster-Carr seal in place. Unfortunately, the 1/4" I originally established for the seal is too tight and won't allow the door to sit properly. I suspect, there has been too much fiberglass filling along that edge which is creating the issue. I noticed that the problem is primarily but not limited to the top. I'm going to go back and establish a 1/4" gap line and work on cutting the offending areas back. What's more door work at this point anyway? By the way, the gap technique seems to have worked very well.
