Brief Description:  Relocate Fuel Pump and Filter

I mentioned months ago that the new injected fuel boost pump and filter assembly is different/updated and as a result, the mounting pad locations changed. Van's was clear about the change in their revised instructions that came with the pump/filter. But as a result, the assembly is very close to the fuel selector valve and the hard aluminum fuel line from the selector to the pump must make a S shaped course that pushes it further aft. So far aft in fact, that it interferes with the elevator/aileron control mechanism. I solved the interference problem by using a flexible fuel line with an integrated 90 degree elbow. I thought all was satisfactory but not really so. I installed two tunnel access plated which should allow access to the pump/filter assembly for future inspection and maintenance. But in reality, since the pump/filter assembly is now so far aft it will be nearly impossible to remove the filter fuel line connections through the access plates. I'll be using a center console with integrated engine control quadrant. Removing all of that for an condition inspection would be a challenge and really negates the value of the tunnel access plates. So. a while ago I decided to move the entire pump/filter assembly further forward than Van's recommened in the revised plans. Since I'm not planning to mount the fuel flow sensor in the tunnel, it's a simple process of drilling out the mounts and moving them forward. Since it was time to remove the upper fuselage assembly and tunnel covers, I made the mounting adjustments. Sorry for being so long winded...not typical.
