I removed the right upper gas strut attach bracket and sanded/filed its mounting pad. I then removed the right door. My next task is to install, ala Ward Aero, hidden attach plates for the door hinges. I began fabricating four plates each with four nutplates for the mounting screws. Taking another lead from Mark C., I'll iembed the plates in a flox mixture to provide a hidden hinge. It took a bit of fabricating for the first plate but it came out well. Three more to go before my glass work. Back on the -8 tomorrow.
