Brief Description:  Install Steps

Final drilled the attachment hole for the two steps. I've read a lot about different means of accessing these bolts in case of future maintenance needs. Van's recommends drilling the pilot hole through the bottom of the fuselage and expanding the hole if necessary to access the bolt. That would also require removing the baggage floor. Many folks have installed an access plate similar to the one used for the stall warning sensor in the wing. The problem is that bolt still interferes with the side panels and can't easily be removed. I copied a modification from another builder where he installed the bolt at a slight angle, versus vertically. This avoids the side panel and allows the removal of the bolt through the access plate. So today, I drilled both bolt holes at a slight angle. I'll install the access plates when I get to the floor. I also installed the two aluminum plugs which should provide additional stiffness to the step tubing. Primed the steel steps.
