Today I went up to see how she flew with the carburetor adjusted 1/8 turn more rich. I’ve been trying to correct the issue where she likes to quit while taxiing back to the hangar. My thought was that she was just a touch too lean and would essentially run out of fuel and die, so I am trying with the carburetor a little more rich.
The weather didn’t cooperate much today; I had to wait around for the fog to lift. Once the fog lifted a bit I went up and had to fly to the north a few miles at about 1500 feet to where I could find a few holes in the clouds to climb more. About 20 miles north of the field I found some breaks in the cloud cover so I climbed to get on top of the clouds at about 3500 feet. Once up there it was beautiful, so I just made some slow, easy turns and just enjoyed flying. Stayed up above the clouds long enough to get a little sun burned. On the way back south towards the airport I flew out over lake Michigan a little because that is where the clouds all started until I was just a few miles from the airport. At that point I ducked down low below the clouds to pattern altitude and made my way to the airport. After I landed she still wanted to quit while taxiing.
