Brief Description:  12th flight

12th flight.
For today’s flight I was planning to fly to the next closest airport and perform a few practice landings on their runway and return – after I ‘strafed’ the neighbors house again. Fortunately, my neighbor was home so it was quite fun.

I still need to learn more about how to operate my Engima, entering waypoints and such, but it was still quite easy to locate the next nearest airport. I just zoomed out until I could see the closest airport on the GPS moving map display and flew towards it. Unfortunately, once I got close and switched to their frequency, I heard that the life-flight helicopter was there so I left the area. The rest of the time was spent sight-seeing.

Once I got back to the airport I had an ‘issue’ with another pilot – two days in a row with the same pilot. Yesterday, on my way back to the airport, I announced at 10 miles out, and as I entered the pattern upwind for runway 35. During this time I could hear another pilot coming in behind me as this pilot made their announcements. As I flew parallel to the airport I announced again that I was in the up wing leg of the pattern for runway 35. A few seconds later, I heard the other pilot announce that they were now on the crosswind leg for runway 35 – I looked out to my left and sure enough, there was the other plane, turning inside of me. This pilot had cut runway 35 in half to fly crosswind where they did. Apparently, I was too slow?

Today, was even worse with the same pilot. I was in the pattern for runway 25, announcing on the downwind leg and I could see that same plane at the hold point for 25. When I turned to base I announced again, in a clear voice that I was now on the base leg for runway 25 – I knew that plane was there and wanted to make sure they knew I was there. As I turned to final, I saw this other plane go past the hold short and start a takeoff roll on the same runway where I was about to land. As I pulled up and to the right I was parallel to this other plane in a few seconds where I announced tha
