Before today’s flight I adjusted the AeroInjector about a quarter-turn lean. I thought this was the correct way to adjust it because the engine runs best with the mixture pulled out about an inch. I thought this would make the engine run best with the mixture control full rich. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way. She seemed to run OK at first, but once everything was hot, she started to cough and really got my attention. My last landing she almost quit, so I pushed full power for a few seconds to make sure I would make the runway, but then I had too much speed and it was tough to get her stopped once on the ground – almost ran out of runway. All-in-all, it scared the crap out of me. I did manage two take-offs and landings today. Time to readjust the aeroinjector.
