Brief Description:  Airplane assembly at the airport

Spent most of the day today at the hangar assembling the plane. When I last installed the wings at home, I installed the rubber ‘h’ channel I purchased from VAN’s RV between the wing skin and the fuselage and it fit nice and snug. Then, when I took the wings back off I glued this rubber to the wing skins just to be sure they would stay in place. Unfortunately, this glue caused the rubber to stick out away from the wing skins just a little, enough so I couldn’t insert the wings into the fuselage enough to insert the bolts, so I couldn’t get the wings on. I was able to get the left wing on, but for the right wing, I had to remove the rubber ‘h’ channel and remove all the glue. After fighting with the wings, and then removing the glue, it took 3 hours just to install the wings and get the bolts inserted.

Once that was finished, I spent the rest of the day connecting the ailerons and flaps. In the end, I have everything assembled and only need to insert a few cotter pins and make some small adjustments and ‘Maggie’ should be ready to taxi.
