Tonight I fabricated and installed the battery strap using piano hinge at the firewall and 2 small screws and (my favorite) nut plates. I also installed stand-offs and the RDAC for the stratomaster Enigma.
Today I also installed the main relay, although I’m not really sure I need it. This main relay will be (electrically) in between the battery and the solenoid of the starter, and the main relay for the instrument panel. It just seems kind of redundant.
I also borrowed a ‘cherry-puller’ to install the engine to the motor mount. It seemed like a bit of overkill using this hoist with a 3000 pound rating to lift a 150 pound engine, but it sure went smooth using it. Plus, after loading the hoist in the back of the wife’s pickup twice, I’ll bet the damn hoist weighed as much as the engine.
I have the day off tomorrow, so I hope to get the rest of the parts installed to the engine – then on to the cowling.
