Brief Description:  More Engine work

Went to town yesterday and tried a few different stores and couldn’t find the wire type snap rings. I did, however, find some snap rings that looked like they might fit better so I bought two. Fortunately, I was right, and the new snap rings fit perfectly, so I’ll feel much better about that now.

For the rest of the weekend, I was able to get the all the cylinders and pistons installed, both heads, the flywheel, and all the covers for all the stuff not used on the Aerovee. No real issues with any of it. Now I just have to wait for my Wicks order to arrive and I’ll be mounting the engine.

Speaking of mounting the engine, I’ve been looking at how to connect the ‘cherry puller’ to the engine without wrecking something. There doesn’t seem to be any easy way. I’ll have to take a look at other builder’s web sites to see how they did it. The sites I refer to most are Jeff Schultz (Sonex 604), Bob Meyers (Sonex 982), Michael Hilderbrand (Sonex 1017 who is building his Sonex with his Dad, how cool would that be?), Carl Orton (Sonex 1170) and Eric Witherspoon (Sonex 815). There is lots of good information out there.
