Brief Description: Inserted the crank shaft into the block
Today I installed all the bearings and inserted the crank shaft into the block. Everything went well until I measured the end play. When I measured the end play (holding the crank shaft towards the flywheel) I measured a .054” gap. The spec in the assembly manual states that I should insert enough shims so the gap that remains is between .003” and .006”. With the four shims I have (the instructions call out 5??) the gap is still .008, not good. So I sent an email to Sonex, explaining the whole thing and I hope to hear back on Monday. Hopefully, everything is fine and they just have to send me the missing (?) shim.
