When I look at some other guy’s planes, sometimes I can see the wires and hoses that go from the wings to the panel on each side of the fuselage. I never liked that – wires are supposed to be hidden as much as possible. So to make sure I can hide all the wires and hoses I made a couple of brackets and ‘covers’ that will be screwed in place to hide all the wires and hoses.
Image 1 shows the bracket and cover for each side. The bracket gets riveted to one of the vertical braces and the cover screws to the bracket. I used more of those nut plates (I love those things) so it makes it very easy.
Image 2 shows the bracket installed. I used 5 rivets to secure it to the vertical brace.
Image 3 shows the cover installed. I should have an area of about 2-1/2 square inches for the wiring and hoses, which should be plenty. When the panel is installed it should extend down past the top of the cover and the cover extends down far enough so you won't be able to see anything below it. I think I'll end up painting the cover the same color as everything else in the cockpit.
