Brief Description:  Seat belt installation

7-7
Tonight I applied another primer coat to the cowl; it’s starting to get close, although I still need to see if I added enough material to cover the aluminum in the lower aft corner. When I was fitting the cowl, I must have cut too much material off the aft edge because I could see a little of the mounting brackets for the engine mount at the lower aft edge of the cowling. I attempted to add a little material back to the cowl to cover this but I’m not sure I added enough yet.

I’m still kicking around what I want to do with the cowl paint. Do I want to buy a few rattle cans and paint the yellow and black diamonds with that, or do I purchase a paint gun and paint, or should I take it to the paint guy and let him do it? So far, I’m leaning towards buying rattle cans and doing it myself.

While waiting for the primer to dry, I installed the seat belts. This installation was easy for the aft and outboard mounting bolts, however, where the two belts mount at the center of the seat, things weren’t so simple. The drawings don’t really explain how this is mounted with the lowered seat and dual sticks modifications. I think I’ve figured out a way to do this, but I’ll have to buy additional bolts to make it work. Also, when I sewed the seat I forgot to make provisions for the seat belt to go through the seat cushion. D’oh! I’ll have to fix that.
