Started to finish the left wing today. First thing was to install the wiring for the lights - just like I did for the right wing.
A few things I did for the wing wiring: First, I used 16 AWG stranded wire, even though 18 AWG is what was called out from the light manufacturer. I wanted a little more capacity and the weight difference was very little. Second I kept the wires for the Nav/Position lights a few inches away from the strobe light to reduce interference. Third I installed ground wires instead of simply relying on the frame as the return path. Fourth, I soldered all the connections and covered them with heat shrink - kept the heat shrink long and tied the wires to the frame so as to act as a strain relief. Fifth, all the wires are protected with grommets but only secured to the frame at the fuselage end of the wing and behind the landing lights, so I should have access and the ability to replace a wire if the need arises.
