Brief Description:

Lot of action today. Got the trim tab actuator hole reinforcement plate drilled out. Next I back riveted the stiffeners to the skin. With back riveting it is easy to get in a groove and you want to keep going. Before I have back riveted into the masonite top of the table. Other than embarassment, no harm, no foul, get a new rivet. But today I caught a rivet right on the edge of the back plate. You can see the result in pic 2. Drilled out rivet and re-dimpled the hole. Turned out pretty well, and it is on the bottom, so no one will ever know except me...oh, and you too, shit. New Rule for back riveting is no more than 4 rivets at a time. I have seen tables where the back plate is a long, thin piece of steel. Mine is a 4"x8" plate set in the table. Either way is a compromise.

Ordered a set of dimple dies from Cleaveland Tool, including a #6 set for the trim tab reinforcement plate. Will need that before I can back rivet it to the skin.
