Brief Description:

Man, I was having a great day. Went to the Nebraska/Oregon game yesterday, and today I was
still riding a high from one of the most fun and best games in years around here.

Started out cutting and peeling the blue protectant from the elevators ( very time consuming work). Dimpled all the right elevator stiffeners, then started dimpling the right elevator skin.I asked my wife to come out and help support the piece while I used the C-frame. Before long the heat and lack of breeze started getting to her. I told her to go inside and I would dimple all the holes that I could by myself, then bring her back out to get the ones that needed two sets of hands. After getting some nicks on the rudder skins, I was determined not to let it happen again on the elevator. I was dimpling holes where E-720A attaches on the inboard side of the elevator, which is the last (or first) stiffener, so the majority of the elevator is off the table and must be held up. It was starting to get awkward by myself, and I literally and ironically thought to myself "This is the last one I'm doing alone". You know where this is going.

The piece is on my right side, and I am right handed. My left hand is holding the piece, while my right arm is crossed over to hammer the die. To keep the skin flat on the die I have to hold skin up, as well as some forward pressure to keep it in place. My first strike is normally mild to get the dimple started, the finishing blow comes next. Well the skin jumped off the die after the first hit, then my pressure moved the skin for the second blow, and now I have a big piece of scrap. See next post.
