The batch of AN470-5-5 rivets came today, and I was excited to get the VS frame done. Well you know where this is gonna go.
I have an air regulator attached to the rivet gun to lower the psi below the 90 psi at the compressor. We tweaked the setting at my construction class and I haven't moved it since. That's because I know the number of hits to make for each rivet by ear. If I change the psi, it changes the length of each burst. So newbie that I am, it never occured to me that a 5 rivet is going to need more juice than a 3 or a 4. So, the rivet gets work hardened without even being wide enough to fit a 4 size gauge. Got it drilled out (a bit of a bitch), and I will set up some scrap pieces to get the psi correct before tackling the airplane again.
