Brief Description:  elevator skin stiffeners

Since I am waiting for mail order rivets, I got started on the elevator. Coming fresh off the rudder stiffeners, why not do the elevator stiffeners? It really is good to do them all at once. You get into a groove cutting each stiffener the same way, and the work progresses quickly.

There is a potential "gotcha" here. Three of the left stiffeners, E-720J,K,L, are made from three of the right stiffeners, E-720D,E,F, but are shortened slightly. The stiffener trim guide on the plans references notes 1 and 2. It also defines dimension X as the distance from the next to last rivet hole to the end of the stiffener, where it will be trimmed off. Note 2 points out the last rivet hole in in each of E-720D,E,F,J,K,L, must be match drilled using the skin as a guide. The hole is drawn in the plan, but it is not found on the actual part. So, measure X for E-720J,K,L from the last rivet hole punched in the part to the trailing edge where you will trim it short. Then you will match drill the last rivet hole using the elevator skin punch as a guide.
