Brief Description:  Phase I testing

Been flying around with the wheel pants off. I reduced the drag on the nose wheel and it's a lot easier to taxi. It looks like the wheel pants give a solid 3 Knots of speed and 4 at lower power setings. I replaced the .290 needle jet with the factory size .285. With this jet the number 5 EGT is about 25 degrees hotter than I would like at 1000 feet, above that altitude it's OK. My average EGT's fall within the required range with the number 5 being the hottest. I'm still working on an intake adapter in an attempt to fix this externally, but since it falls in a normal range it's on the back burner. I bought a Hackman mixture control and I'm still looking at ways to mount it that I am happy with, if I use it then I'll return to the .290 needle jet. I have 33.7 hours so far and everything as designed, so well in fact that all of my fine tuning plans are on the back burner. My main goals right now are to get the 40 hours and take my wife for a ride then paint the aircraft. After that I'll finish up the fine tuning.
