Brief Description:  flight 18 with wheel pants

Got the wheel pants installed and changed my .285 needle jet to a .290 then went flying. The airplane flys different with them on. It felt like I needed just a slight ammount of right rudder but the ball didn't indicate that I did. I have them installed dead nuts on so the drag should be the same but it felt different. On landing when I let the nosewheel down the nosewheel was displaced to the right so I'm thinking that maybe the nose is not fairing correctly in flight. I remember George had a similar problem. I plan on doing a couple of flybys next time and get my wife to video tape them to see. On the other hand I picked up 4 Knots of airspeed. My fuel remaining verses my actual fuel remaining differs on fillups by about one gallon to the bad side so I will be making a K factor adjustment when I get a little more data. I love the airplane but not sure about the wheel pants. In order to air the tires it will require removing 6 screws per pant and to replace the brakes it requires you to remove the axle to get the inner pads off. Plus a flat tire will probably ruin a pant. I'm not sure my mission requires them but I'll leave them on for now.
