Brief Description:  flight 17

Flight 17 was to test the factory jets with my new intake. What I have discovered is that the Bing carb doesn't quite keep up with the density altitude. At cruise the mixture will be at it's leanest at sea level and get richer as you climb. Since I live at sea level I have to jet for it. The factoru .255 main and .285 needle jet work fine above 2,000 feet but since I will be spending a lot of time below that level I returned to the .290 needle jet. This keeps my low power cruise within the Jabiru limits. The factory jets will work at sea level with mid to high cruise power settings but with the power (and fuel flow) pulled back for sight seeing my number 5 cylinder will exceed the factory limit by about 25 degrees. Jabiru USA says that OK as all probes don't read the same but I feel better going with the factory limits. I plan on trying to improve the intake even more to see if I can balance the #5 better. I will probably swap some EGT probes around to make sure I don't have a high reading one but I think they are right.
