Brief Description:  Flights 13-14

Removed the cowl to do the 5 hour inspection. Had to torque the head bolts. The 6 oclock bolt on the numbers 3-4-5 cylinders moved a little but the rest were ok. Book calls for 5hrs 10 hrs and 50 hrs then at each annual after that. I decided to try mods outside the carb before I tried anything after the carb to get the EGT's under control. One of my thoughts is to build a plenum that is fed from the airbok then an exit which is straight to the carb as I feel that turbulence from the 90 degree turn from the airbox to the carb is part of my problem. I first wanted to experiment to see if my thinking was right so I built a vane which slips into the carb adapter. I am amazed at the change, my EGT spread was over 150 degrees and now only 40 from hottest to coolest and even as rich as the engine is it was now smooth as silk. I flew around a bit with a bid grin on my face the headed back for a jet change. I downloaded me EMS data and studied it for awhile and decided to go back to the .255 main jet from the .265 and flew again. After flying with the new jet it appears that I will also be able to go back to the original needle jet also so I'll try that next. Today with everything working the was it should it was a blast to fly. I saw a friend in the air in an RV 12 so he joined up with me and we flew formation for awhile then I went back and landed and made whats become my normal landing and turn off at 300 feet. Now I need to get the fafings and pants on and get some performance data.
