Brief Description:  Aircraft Spruce Forum Q&A 20090521-D Rudder Pedals

This project consisted of welded fuselage, completed center section w/center section wing tank and constructed wings. No covering. It has an initially constructed firewall and it's inverted fuel tank and lines were in place. My first task was to take it apart and inspect for plan accuracy. I'm in that process now and will inspect firewall back verifying or completing all attachments as I go. Some things are just safety wired together, so need AN bolts etc. I don't like the fuel line routing (lines to engine are at points higher than tank pickup) and the on and off valves were up by the tank. I'm not looking to do a John Denver so need to reroute back so front and back seat have some sort of easy access for fuel on/off and emptying to the center section wing into the main tank.

So I have a long way to go and will use this forum to correctly build the AD2. So I hope I don't become too much of a pest and will greatly appreciate all your advise and counsel.

Rich,
Quick comment - why would you want a fuel valve of any kind in the front seat? To me that is the same issue as brake pedals up front. Not needed and an invitation to an unexpected shutdown.

Hmmmm - Good point. I'll have to give it some more thought. My thinking was the inadvertent break hit as opposed to the conscious action of turning something off by the uninitiated but a seasoned pilot in the front flying from the front, although relying on the second seat for break control, may sense an emergency and want fuel flow shut off control.
