Manual Reference:  Section 6
Brief Description:  Vertical Stabilizer

Well, my last post was on 4/27. I had to stop production after leaving for work out of state for a couple of months. What was interesting was that my wife was not able to get a thing done on the project while I was gone. :). It is good to be back and I hope to get some more accomplished before work calls again.

I started today with initial assembly of the VS. I have it all clecoed together and will finish the match drilling tomorrow afternoon (after golf). I hope to have the VS completed by the end of the weekend. I do have a golf game on Sunday morning, too.

Then it will be on to the rudder or elevators. I have not decided yet.

It was interesting to see how easily I was able to get back into the project after a 2 month absence. I just read the manual first; noting all important things by highlighting them. Then, I laid out all the parts for this section. I also highlighted all notes on the plan page; such as flush riveting in certain areas, what not to drill until assembly to the fuselage, etc. This is very worthwhile and helps to eliminate mistakes. Read, read, read. Van's has done a tremendous job of layout for this project. Just do not get in too big a hurry.
