Brief Description:  Riveting the Tip Ribs

Having completed the massive task of priming, I moved onto the more enjoyable task of riveting thigs together.

The first bits that go together are associated with the Tip Ribs and the counterbalance skin assembly. There are no real difficuties with these sections, but I did make life a bit harder for myself. When doing the the front three (x2) rivets, I had to clamp the flange to the skin to get a good close fit. This was a bit awkward as the flange angle must have been a couple of dregrees off. I didnt adjust the angle of this flange as it had already been fluted at the factory and given it is a curved surface already, it is hard to use seam pliers on...

I have to say I would have prefered that nothing had been done to it rather than the partial state of fluting / seaming that it came with. I have noticed when looking at other builders logs on the internet, that theirs also were partially completed on arival (no blue plastic on the parts). This is the only set of parts that I can identify that are partially completed in this manner. Very strange. I am guessing that they parts start very bent and for cosmetics, Vans "improves" them before despatch...
