I did the close out tabs using roughly the specified method. Instead of using the work table, I put a small radius on the edge of my MDF back riveting board and clamped that to the work bench. The radius was required to ensure that the bend was not too sharp. It is worth noting that I used the specified locations for the bend, but did find when I added the shear clip later that there was a larger gap between the tabs and the clip than I would prefer. I advice is to keep the bend radius larger than is indicated in the diagrams.
I used a small block of wood rather than fingers to do the initial bending. Some seem to use fingers for that initial bend, but I didnt think that would give a good result.
