Brief Description:  Rivet Rudder Trailing Edge

I prepared to rivet the trailing edge using my back rivet plate embedded into an MDF sheet. the picture depicts the mdf sheet in "landscape" mode. I actually used it in "portrait" mode with the plate sideways. This was a mistake.

I also used a small sheet of Ply to level the other end when the Back Rivet Plate was at the extremities of the rudder. I followed the instructions as per Vans and had no issues with keeping the TE strainght. My only problem was that I did a put a couple of smiles into the TE when I was getting close to the finish. The biggest problem was that I didnt see the damage until I had done a couple of them. Way was that? Because I didnt move my head and the reflection off the TE didnt show it up until I did move it. Why didnt I move my head? Because I was working from the side of the mdf sheet. When I get to the Elevators, I am again going to do it differently. Bottom line is that working from a distance was not a goodidea. The good news is that I reviewed the work with my Tech Consultant and he is comfortable that it will clean up well when I paint.
