Brief Description:  Primed and Riveted the Rudder Top Rib

I was not happy with the way that the top rib of the rudder had turned out. So I have redone it.

My primary concern was with the way I had set up the VOR antenna puck BNC connector hole. I had set it up in the widest part of the rib to give me maximum room to work a doubler in, however, that approach had meant that the antenna whiskers were going to be going through the flange at the last hole in the section. I constructed a doubler that spaned the flanges, but to me this was not a good idea as the distance between successive rivets very large (2 x rivet distance + inter flange gap ). I have now reworked the rib so that the puck is further forwards which puts the whiskers through the middle rivet hole in the flange. The disadvantage is that I can only use a flat doubler, rather than one that attaches to the flange, however, I am happy with the overall result.

I completed the priming process on the top rib and its doublers. I am pretty pleased with the result. After a couple of hours dryng, I was able to rivet the doublers and the nutplates ready for integration into the VS skeleton. Overall I am pretty pleased with the result.
