Brief Description: Prepare Rudder Ribs and Stiffeners
I am currently slowing down the VS work as I am awaiting the arrival of the VOR antenna and particularly its puck to make sure that I can fit it correctly into the top rib of the VS.
While awaiting its arrival, I decided to get on with some work on the Rudder. Most of it went very well, but I had an issue with the Bottom rib separation.
I separated parts A and B with the band saw and in the process nicked the edge of R-1004B when I cleaned it up on the linisher and then measured to verify that the edge distance was ok, guess what, it wasnt. from the centre of the rivet to the edge was 0.241" rather than the minimum .25". So I have had to order a replacement part from Vans. $9, but I dont want to think about the postage to get it to Aus by Fedex.
The remainder of the work went without a hitch, so in general I was happy. At the end of the evening, I had a full set of stiffeners and shear clips ready to go.
