Brief Description: More Tools from Avery and the Pneumatic Squeezer
I received notification from CH Freight that my Empennage kit is due to arrive in Sydney on the 2nd October. I am guessing it will take a about a week to clear Customs, so I have roughly a month to wait.
Today, a new set of tools arrived from Avery, including the pneumatic squeezer that I ordered. I thought long and hard about having a pneumatic squeezer as they are very expensive. However, I decided to go with it because:
1. The RV-10 is quite a large aircraft and the number of rivets will be significantly greater than for a 7 or 9. Given I want to do a good job setting them without sacrificing speed, I thought that it would be very useful.
2. I have never head of anyone ever saying that their purchase of a squeezer was a bad investment. I have only ever heard people who dont have one saying they would not get one because "real men use a gun"...
3. I am not the strongest guy in the world (not even second 8) ) and when I get into the shop, I want to be as consistent, efficient and productive as possible.
I actually purchased the Pneumatic Squeezer Kit from Avery. This comes with the adjustable Set holder. This to me is pretty important as otherwise you have to adjust the Set height by using washers. Not my idea of a good time. I also got the 4 inch yoke and a Longeron Yoke. All the yokes can be used in the avery manual squeezer as well. Very handy.
I have 3 drills, which is a bit of overkill. I have my old cheapie ($50) from Machinery House. It has a large chuck so can be used for a variety of activities. I also have an inline drill from Grizzly Tools in the USA (Had to make up the minimum order $s... I also have a new sioux which will be used exclusively for the RV...
