Given I am expecting to have to do considerably more wood work during the construction of the Wings and Fuselage and my other personal needs, I decided to get a really portable mitre saw. I purchased a Makita 18V LXT Mobile Slide Compound Mitre Saw from my local Home Hardware. I have to say that it is beautifully engineered when compared with the remainder of the saws that they had on offer. The double slide mechanism keeps it very small, but at the same time, it has a good reach.
My first use of the new saw was in the construction of the HS Cradles. I have to say that it was massive overkill, but I know it will be a good investment long term. The cuts are very very clean. It is tempting to run it through fast, but the motor will bog down if you do that.
