Brief Description:  Drilled elevator piano hinge

Marked and trimmed the overhang past the aft edge of the rear flange on the topside of the stabilizer skin. This was not an easy task...combination of dremel and snips needed...and a lot of filing. The overhang was small, but needed to be trimmed nonetheless.

Marked the centerline on the stabilizer aft edge.

Marked the centerline on the Elevator hinge, making sure it was oriented as per the instructions.

Marked the center of the piano hinge for the edge distance. Laid out the hinge on the stab, and transferred those marks to the stabilizer skin for the rivet line. Marked the rivet line on the stab skin.

(note: the 40mm rivet pitch was only possible inboard of the outboard ribs. Outside of this, since i needed a rivet 8mm from the edge of the hinge, i put a rivet exactly halfway between that and the outboard rib. I then matched the pitch of the elevator to get the appropriate number of rivets (5) outboard of the hinge)

Slipped the elevator hinge under the stab skin, and lined up the center lines. Clamped the skin to the rear flange, making sure the hinge spine points down, and lined up with the aft hinge.

Drilled and cleco'd the hinge to the stabilizer.

Disassembled the hinge/top skin/outer ribs, deburred, cleaned, and painted in preparation for riveting. (it's amazing how long this process takes!)
