Brief Description:  Primer & Spray Gun

Today I received my primer and spray gun. There has been much debate by other builders regarding the need to do interior priming on the airplane. The downsides are more time to build, additional weight, and cost. The benefits are obviously less chance for corrosion which is not usually a problem unless you live close to coastal or humid climates. I have decided to prime the airplane just for peace of mind. After much research on primers and spray guns, I have chosen to use AKZO 2 part epoxy primer. This stuff is supposed to be the best. The spray gun is made by 3M and has great reviews for its ability to spray primer. The spray gun must use the 3M PPS system which I wanted anyway. This system will make priming and cleanup much less of a burden.

I purchased the spray gun off Amazon as a PPS starter kit. (Mini Cup version).

I purchased the AKZO primer from Graco Supply (best prices).
