For me, the front spar HS-702 flange trimming was a little difficult to visualize at first. I probably spent 3 hours trying to figure it out and one hour doing it. So for the sake of future builders who might have the same issues on how to approach this, I will try to break it down into the steps that I used. Since I can only post three pictures per post, I will spread it out over more than one log entry.
The HS-702 flanges are designed for an RV-8 and must be trimmed for use on the RV-7. The first step is mark the bend line. This dimension is on the plans and measures 5 and 3/16ths from the inboard end. I used my Incra T-rule and it works great. Google it.
The next step is to Drill a #30 relief hole 1/8” inboard of the bend line and centered on the bend radius of the flange and then enlarge it to ¼” with a unibit.
