Brief Description:  Assembled Vertical Skin

Good day. Work completed was: (1) corrosion proof structure, (2) corrosion proof skin (rivet lines), (3) riveting structure and (4) clecoeing/riveting skin and ribs. See additional photos for lessons learned.

Lessons learned:
-Paint with passes (speed inverse of distance).
-Start on inside edges and work out (final pass should be on face with piece resting on flanges)
-Paint rivet lines on inside of skin
-Use cardboard to protect bench
-Prep pieces by using lacquer thinner

-Squeezer pressure is100psi
-Use correct yokes as applicable for access/distance
-Where squeezer will not work, buck the rivets! Do not try and force the squeezer (see rear spar to skin)
-When calibrating for depth, start long and work your way "in"
-With the right touch, the squeezer can move slowly

-Rivet gun is 50 psi for #30 rivets (structure) and 35-40 psi for #40 rivets (skin)
-Utilize correct pressure or you will damage skin
-Technique: (1) hold bucking bar firm to slightly loose with left hand, (2) press gun (vertically) with extra stiff force, (3) use short bursts of the gun and (4) allow bucking bar to vibrate. Idea is that gun stays flush with skin while bucking bar "hammers" up and down to expand the rivet.
-Prior to squeezing trigger, check that bucking bar is lined up by pressing the rivet head up through the hole. Also, when holding the bucking bar, only the index finger should support the end of the bucking bar (creates "hammer" effect).
-Use correct bucking bar for task and ensure bucking bar covers hole completely. Also, tape bucking bar to protect painted metal and hold bucking bar so that it is perpendicular to the spar. In fact, the bucking bar should be pressed up against the spar in order to use it as a guide.
-Only drill out rivets which are not flush with skin. Drilling-out involves (1) punching center, (2) drilling through center to shaft, (3) use punch to remove head and (4) remove shaft with pliers (standard, end cutting, diagonal cutting)
